Making a Difference

Andrinee Martinez
Sconzo Early College High School

"The HARTA Educator Scholarship played an important role in helping me achieve my professional goals. I received the HARTA Educator Scholarship in 2018 while serving as a Counselor at Woodcreek Middle School. This scholarship allowed me the opportunity to attend the Texas Counseling Association Annual Conference. The three-day conference provided me with counseling refreshers and updated tools to address social, emotional, and cognitive development for Humble ISD students. Fast forward to 2022, I have the privilege of helping students discover their passions as the Service Learning Coordinator and AVID Facilitator at Sconzo Early College High School."

"The scholarship I received from the Humble ISD Education Foundation helped me to continue in the pursuit of a master's degree in educational technology at Louisiana State University. Through this master's program, I have researched and learned about frameworks for meaningful technology integration that have led to lessons that help my students to build the future-proof skills needed for digital fluency, citizenship, and problem-solving in their educational careers and beyond. These courses will have a lasting impact on student success in Humble ISD through direct learning in my classroom and at my campus as well as through professional development I have helped to facilitate to encourage other teachers to use their technology effectively in their own classrooms."
