Kent Spitzmiller

Kent Francis Spitzmiller, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and community leader, passed away on August 6, 2025, in Humble, Texas, at the age of 84. Born on January 12, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, Kent grew up in Baytown, Texas, where he developed a passion for sports and community service.

Kent attended the University of Texas, where he excelled in both football and swimming. Under the guidance of legendary coach Darrel Royal, he played football and was a standout member of the swim team, earning a place on UT's Wall of Fame for his remarkable swimming abilities.  After college, Kent dedicated over 35 years to officiating high school football, sharing his love for the sport with countless young athletes.

Kent was a co-owner of Kat Bullews/Wilson Road Hall/Magnolia Place from 1981 to 2015. His business was a cornerstone of the community, hosting the annual livestock auction for the Humble ISD Livestock Show.

Kent was a champion of this livestock show, where students poured their hearts into raising animals, learning responsibility, and discovering the pride of hard work. His generosity gave countless students an experience that went far beyond the show ring—it gave them a reason to stay engaged in school, build meaningful skills, and connect with their community.

Kent's commitment to inspiring students will continue through the Kent Spitzmiller Memorial Fund. At the family’s request, donations will support teacher grants—funding innovative classroom projects that capture students’ interest and ignite their passion for learning, just as the livestock program did for so many.

Through these grants, teachers will have the resources to create hands-on, real-world learning experiences that keep students connected, motivated, and prepared for life beyond school. This fund ensures that Kent's legacy will live on—in every engaged student, every inspired teacher, and every dream that begins in a classroom.
